Dua Lipa has spoken candidly about her transition into acting as she prepares to release her third studio album

Dua Lipa opened up about her cross over into the world of acting with her roles in Barbie and Argylle this past year on Monday.

The 28-year-old Albanian singer played the role of Mermaid Barbie and sang Dance the Night for the hit 2023 Barbie film.

In Argylle, she made a cameo as LaGrange and played the role of, Henry Cavill’s character, Agylle’s love interest.

She told TIME Magazine that she referrers to these two as ‘little baby roles.’

‘I loved being on set,’ the singer turned actress shared. ‘I love the idea of embodying a different character and having an assignment.’

‘I also love when I go to a photo shoot, and I can completely change up my look,’ she said. ‘It gives me like a different persona.’

On her role in the Barbie film, she added, ‘I loved being in the movie because it was just so exciting to be a part of something so special like this with an incredible cast.’

‘I feel lucky that [director] Greta Gerwig asked me to be the mermaid,’ she told Vogue.

The Future Nostalgia songstress went on to share with Vanity Fair that she felt she was ‘holding the biggest secret in the world, from the song to the little cameo.’

Adding how the experience ‘was fun and exciting,’ she has yet to confirm if she wants to keep acting.

‘It was a crazy back-to-back! It was like, OK, today I’m going to go and put on four different colored wigs and a mermaid tail,

and tomorrow I’m going to fly and get up onstage again and do something completely different,’ she told the outlet.

This come as she announced the name and the release date of her much-anticipated third studio album on Wednesday.

The three-time Grammy Award winner revealed the album will be called Radical Optimism and will be available to stream or purchase from May 3.
