Nicole Scherzinger sings during an emotional segment at the awards show
Nicole Scherzinger delivered a touching rendition of What I Did For Love for the In Memoriam segment during the 77th Tony Awards on Sunday in New York City.
Sunset Boulevard star Nicole, 45, looked stunning in a grey sheer dress with silver heels as she performed the song from the 1975 Broadway musical A Chorus Line — as thespians including Treat Williams, Glenda Jackson, Alan Arkin were honored.

The singer was introduced by Brooke Shields, 59, the newly elected president of the Actors’ Equity Association at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center.
Brooke said: ‘I am so proud to be here to celebrate the entire theatrical community. But this is a moment that is bittersweet, as we also honor the memories of those no longer with us.
‘For every well-known artist, there are countless others whose contributions both onstage and behind the scenes forever changed Broadway.

With a final tribute to some of these beloved colleagues who left a profound impact, please welcome Olivier Award winner Nicole Scherzinger.’
The tributes started with actor Hinton Battle and included Ellen Holly, Chris Peluso, producer Ron Simons and Louis Gossett Jr, before concluding with actor Chita Rivera, who died in January at age 91.
The staging for Nicole’s performance included a single bulb burning brightly that turned dark at its conclusion.
Nicole will make her Broadway debut this fall in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard.

She returned to the West End starring as Norma Desmond in the 2023 revival of Sunset Boulevard at the Savoy Theatre and won the Standard Theatre Award for Best Musical Performance and the 2024 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical.
Her performance in the In Memoriam segment got some instant approval on X, formerly known as Twitter.
‘Nicole singing “What I Did for Love” during the In Memoriam segment, with the ghost light at got me sobbing,’ one post read.
