Julia Roberts put her acting career on hold the moment she became a mother, nearly two decades ago.
Naturally, Roberts’ private life was the stuff that dreams in Hollywood are made of. But after the twins, Hazel and Phinnaeus, were born on November 28, 2004, there was never a moment when her kids weren’t the center of her world.

The Oscar winner and her husband, cinematographer Danny Moder, told the Wall Street Journal in 2014, «By the time we had kids, I had accomplished things and felt secure about that part of my life.»
«I was so joyful moving into the family phase of my life in a sincere way.»
She went on, saying that the kids «weren’t even aware that I had a job for a long time because I was home so much.»
Roberts’s main role as Mom was attested to by the late Mike Nichols, who directed her in the 2004 film Closer and the 2007 film Charlie Wilson’s War.
He told the Wall Street Journal, «Maintaining their real life is what Julia has been best at.» «The details are what really make an impression.
There is no one sweeping the halls of their home when you visit them. It’s just Julia and Danny and the children, and there are toys everywhere. She consistently veers off course.»
In October 2018, Roberts spoke with Gwyneth Paltrow on The Goop Podcast. She acknowledged that taking a break from her career to concentrate only on motherhood was a «incredible luxury,»
but she felt that after 18 incredibly busy and successful years of making movies, «I had earned that time to do whatever I want to do with it, with these new people in our house.»
Even still, the stratospheric apex of her fame could have been difficult to comprehend if you weren’t around for the Pretty Woman, Notting Hill, or Erin Brockovich days. Her kids ultimately found out what she did for a career.
