Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie won’t meet up during the film festival
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will not be crossing paths at the upcoming Venice Film Festival.
The annual event’s artistic director, Alberto Barbera, spoke with Vanity Fair about this year’s festival, at which both Jolie’s Maria and Pitt’s Wolfs will have their world premieres.

Asked whether the exes have the potential to run into each other at the star-studded event, Barbera said that «of course» their appearances will be spaced apart.
«Angelina will be on the first day, on Thursday [Aug.] 29, and she will leave right after with [Maria director] Pablo Larraín to go to Telluride Film Festival,» he explained. «Brad will arrive only on Saturday, to Venice.»
«There is no way that they can cross each other at the Lido,» Barbera added of Jolie, 49, and Pitt, 60.

Jolie and Pitt’s divorce negotiations remain ongoing. After nine years together, the two tied the knot in 2014 and Jolie filed for divorce two years later.
The Bullet Train actor and Eternals actress first met on the set of 2005’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith and began dating afterward. They share six children: Maddox, 23, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16.
They are currently embroiled in a contentious legal battle involving Château Miraval, the French winery they previously co-owned.

A source recently told PEOPLE that nearly eight years after their breakup, Pitt and Jolie’s settlement is still being hashed out.
«Both sides are still talking,» the insider close to the pair said of remaining issues in the divorce negotiations, «but it’s not done yet.»
